Daboya, Savannah Region – August 7, 2026 Teaching and non-teaching staff of Savannah College of Education in Daboya have issued an urgent public appeal to the Government of Ghana, calling for the immediate clearance of their appointments and payment of salaries after nearly a year without remuneration. In a statement signed by Concerned Staff of Savannah College of Education, Daboya, the workers expressed deep concern over what they describe as prolonged delays in the processing of their appointments following the institution's absorption. According to the statement, no member of staff including the Principal and Vice Principal has received an official appointment letter or been cleared onto the government payroll through the Controller and Accountant General's Department. During the 2024 election campaign, teachers listened attentively to the promises made by your party regarding improvements in our conditions of service. Among these were commitments to introduce a deprived area allowance, ensure automatic posting for newly trained teachers, and provide housing support for educators. The Larabanga Islamic Senior High School, established in 2024 under the Nana Addo/Bawumia administration, is the most recent addition to the public Senior High Schools in the Savannah region. This school's creation fulfilled a promise made by Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia to the chief Imam and elders of the Larabanga community in November 2016, as he sought their prayers and support for the 2016 elections. His death, after a period of illness, has left a deep void in the hearts of party faithful and the wider Damongo community.
