AN OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA

Image
Dear Mr. President, I write to you as a teacher who is deeply concerned about the welfare and future of the teaching profession in Ghana. During the 2024 election campaign, teachers listened attentively to the promises made by your party regarding improvements in our conditions of service. Among these were commitments to introduce a deprived area allowance, ensure automatic posting for newly trained teachers, and provide housing support for educators. These promises generated hope among many teachers, especially those serving in rural and underserved communities. Today, many of us are still waiting to see these commitments translated into concrete policies and tangible benefits. The deprived area allowance, which was expected to provide relief to teachers working under difficult conditions, has yet to be implemented. The promise of automatic posting remains unrealized, leaving many graduates uncertain about their future. The proposed housing initiatives for teachers also appear t...

S/R: THE SILENT REVOLT OF NDC YOUTH IN DAMONGO.

Image
Joe Osman   The unfolding twist within the NDC grassroots in the Damongo Constituency is both striking and politically significant. Over the years, the NDC’s popularity in Damongo grew tremendously, particularly after the party introduced John Dramani Mahama as running mate to the late John Evans Atta Mills Since then, a strong political sentiment has taken root among many residents most especially among the Gonja people and that any Gonja who refuses to support John Mahama and the NDC is being ungrateful. This long-standing belief fueled deep loyalty among the youth, many of whom invested their hopes and ambitions in the party, convinced that the NDC alone held the key to transforming the constituency and improving their future. However, now that the party has returned to power, a new reality appears to be setting in. Many young people in Damongo are increasingly voicing frustration over unemployment and the lack of meaningful livelihood opportunities. Their expectations for jobs ...

Questions Mount Over Savannah Regional Minister’s Competence as Grassroots Anger Deepens

Image
Recent comments by outspoken NDC communicator Bakari Shaibu, popularly known as “Cbroda,” have exposed what appears to be a growing crisis of confidence in the leadership and governance style of Savannah Regional Minister, Hon. Salisu Be-Awuribe. From Cbroda’s sharp criticism, one disturbing message stands out clearly: many party loyalists are beginning to question whether the Regional Minister is truly competent enough to occupy such a sensitive political and administrative office. According to Cbroda, the Minister has not only failed politically in managing the NDC grassroots, but has also shown signs of weak leadership, poor governance coordination, and an apparent inability to unite party supporters behind the government’s agenda in the Savannah Region. In a political environment where grassroots mobilization and stakeholder engagement are essential, the Minister’s alleged detachment from party loyalists is increasingly being viewed as administrative incompetence rather than mere...

IS THE NDC GOVERNMENT DELIBERATELY SUPPRESSING THE GROWTH OF THE LARABANGA ISLAMIC SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL?

Image
The Larabanga Islamic Senior High School, established in 2024 under the Nana Addo/Bawumia administration, is the most recent addition to the public Senior High Schools in the Savannah region. This school's creation fulfilled a promise made by Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia to the chief Imam and elders of the Larabanga community in November 2016, as he sought their prayers and support for the 2016 elections. During the NPP's time in power, from 2017 until the school's establishment,  leaders like Mr. Saeed Muaz Jibril, the MCE, and Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor, the MP for the Damongo Constituency, worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life. The school features a two-storey building with twelve classrooms, separate dormitory blocks for boys and girls, a modern administration block, and housing for teachers. Notably, electricity was extended from the Larabanga community to the school by Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor, enhancing its infrastructure. Under the Nana Addo/Bawumia administ...
