H.E JOHN MAHAMA's STORY TELLING VISIT; PACKAGED IN LIES, DECEIT, AND INSINCERITY. A REMINDER TO STOLEN NPP PROJECTS

Image
For Immediate Release  Monday 16th June, 2025. The President, H.E John Mahama, a few days ago undertook a boisterous yet boringly rhetorical visit to the land of his birth, the Savannah Region. It's trite knowledge that, Mr. Mahama displayed a wishy-washy attitude in his mandate as MP, Deputy Minister, Minister, Vice President and President toward the needs of the region. With a rare second chance to shift the needle this time around, his first official visit after ascending to the Presidential throne showed a walk in the old path-ways of neglect and parched developmental agenda. As a leader, truth, honesty, and inclusivity are key ingredients to succeed; the President has chosen once again to deceive the Chiefs and people by making ambivalent statements on major projects in the Region started by the erstwhile NPP Nana Addo/ Bawumia government. The simplest of task is to allow the due process to continue and then supervise the completion for the benefit of the people. Mr. Pr...

NPP Damongo Mourns Hon. Winifred Mbemah: A Pillar of Loyalty and Service

Image
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Damongo Constituency is mourning the painful loss of one of its most dedicated and long-serving leaders, Hon. Winifred Mbemah. His death, after a period of illness, has left a deep void in the hearts of party faithful and the wider Damongo community. In a heartfelt press release signed by the Damongo Constituency Assistant Secretary, Mr. Ndodu John, the party described Hon. Mbemah as “one of our long-standing and dedicated leaders.” He served as the fifth constituency chairman of the NPP in Damongo from 2012 to 2017 and was also a respected assemblyman for the Hangaline/Ngberipe electoral area for an impressive ten years. These two key roles positioned him as a grassroots mobilizer, community advocate, and loyal steward of the party’s vision. His commitment to the NPP dates back decades. “Hon. Mbemah was a key figure in the NPP since the era of Adu Boahen and remained committed to the party until his sudden illness,” the statement said. Eve...

Out with the Chalk, In with the Markers! Osramanae JHS Gets a Classroom Makeover

Image
Something exciting just happened at Osramanae M/A Junior High School — and trust Jakpa Gossips to bring you the scoop first! Thanks to the energetic team of Lead For Ghana Fellows at the school, three old, dusty blackboards have officially been kicked out and replaced with sleek, modern Formica markerboards. Yes, Osramanae classrooms just got a glow-up! Teachers had been dealing with all sorts of stress — from eye infections caused by chalk dust to constantly ruined outfits. The old blackboards weren’t just outdated; they were affecting health and making teaching harder than it needed to be. Fast forward to 2024, the Fellows at Osramanae JHS saw the need for change and got straight to work. They launched a fundraising campaign to ditch the chalk and bring in the whiteboards — and guess what? The community showed up! A special shoutout goes to Shiloh’s Hotel in Kete Krachi for being one of the key supporters. Thanks to their generosity (and others too), the new boards were bought and of...

S/R: DAMONGO WATER CRISIS: CONCERNED CITIZENS DEMAND IMMEDIATE COMMISSIONING OF COMPLETED BROTO WATER PROJECT

Image
By Admin Kadir Abdul-Rahaman, NPP Constituency Secretary, Damongo.  A group calling itself the Concerned Citizens of Damongo Constituency has held a press conference to express strong displeasure over the continued refusal of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) and the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration to commission the completed Damongo Alternative Water Supply System, popularly referred to as the Broto Water Project . The press conference, held exactly one year after the sod-cutting ceremony for the project, was led by the NPP Constituency Secretary, Kadiri Abdul-Rahaman , who described the situation as “a matter of grave concern that threatens public health, human dignity and the wellbeing of the people of our beloved Damongo.” According to the group, the project was initiated by Hon. Lawyer Samuel Abu Jinapor , Member of Parliament for Damongo, through the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, with funding from EXIM BANK. The contract was awa...

HEALING FROM WITHIN: WHY THE NPP MUST LEARN FROM THE NDC’S QUIET CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Image
By: HON.ATTAKORA 0548741444 In every political tradition, internal disagreements are inevitable. Parties are made up of people passionate individuals with different ambitions, ideologies, and strategies. But how these internal disputes are managed often determines whether a party emerges stronger or becomes weakened, disoriented, and vulnerable in the eyes of the public. As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) grapples with post-election realities, leadership transitions, and ideological crossroads, it is critical to reflect deeply on how we manage our internal challenges especially in comparison to our main rivals, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).  THE NDC'S QUIET FIRES Contrary to public perception, the NDC has never been free of internal struggles. Leadership battles, ideological shifts, and generational tensions have all played out in their ranks. From the post-Mills era through the Mahama-Kwesi Botchwey introspections and recent power alignments within their national e...

Electing Emmanuel Korsi Bodja as NPP National Organiser will be A Masterstroke of Political Strategy

Image
Electing Emmanuel Korsi Bodja as NPP National Organiser will be A Masterstroke of Political Strategy The race for the position of National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party has attracted keen interest. Mr. Emmanuel Korsi Bodja, the current Volta Regional Organiser's ambition to transition into the role of National Organiser is not just a personal political aspiration but a bold and strategic move that could reposition the NPP’s national appeal and operational strength. The Volta Region is historically known as the stronghold of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), with the NPP struggling over the years to make significant electoral gains there. However, amidst these challenges, Mr. Bodja has stood out as a relentless and strategic party man, working against the odds to expand the NPP’s footprint in one of its most difficult terrains. His experience, courage, and deep grassroots mobilisation efforts in the Volta Region make a strong case for his elevation to the national stag...

THE INJUSTICE, SYSTEMIC INEQUALITY, HYPOCRISY AND BLAME-SHIFTING IN THE GHANAIAN EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM: AN APPEAL FOR REVIEW

Image
For years, Ghana’s educational system has suffered from structural injustice or systemic inequality imposed by leadership decisions. One major concern, which the above poem vividly highlights, is the categorisation of Senior High Schools (SHSs) and the biased placement of Junior High School (JHS) pupils into these schools. Currently, SHSs in Ghana are put into three categories: A, B and C, with Category A being the highest and Category C being the lowest. When this policy was first introduced, some visionary citizens of Ghana including the leadership of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) raised legitimate concerns against it because of its inherent challenges, and suggested that it should be reviewed. The GNAT secretary, Mr. Thomas Tanko Musah, in particular, in an interview with City News argued that the ranking of the schools would create a negative impression in the minds of students and parents as some would think that some schools are good and others are bad...

Franklin Cudjoe’s Claim on GUTA is False: Evidence from the Nana-Bawumia Era

Image
By: Habib Mandeya Abukari  In a recent commentary, IMANI Africa’s President, Franklin Cudjoe, claimed that this is the first time the Ghana Union of Traders Associations (GUTA) is calling on its members to reduce prices of goods. This assertion is not only historically inaccurate but appears to be a deliberate attempt to distort the economic record of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia-led government. Contrary to Cudjoe’s claim, there are well-documented instances under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration where GUTA, recognizing the impact of sound government policies, urged its members to reduce the prices of goods. In April 2019, the government introduced a landmark policy reducing the benchmark values of imported goods by 50% and vehicles by 30%. This move was aimed at making imported goods more affordable and enhancing trade competitiveness. In response to this initiative, GUTA publicly acknowledged the government's intervention and issued a...

S/R: Felix Kwakye Ofosu’s Lavish Taste Contradicts His Claims on Government Austerity

Image
Felix with the two expensive phones infront of him. On media platform recently, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, minster of communication at the Presidency has boldly declared that government expenditure has been significantly reduced under their administration. However, a closer look at both the government’s own budget and the personal spending habits of its appointees tells a very different story. In what can only be described as a glaring contradiction, Felix Kwakye Ofosu was recently seen seated before two ultra-premium HUAWEI Mate X2 5G smartphones—each retailing at a staggering $11,809.00 . When converted into Ghanaian cedis at the prevailing exchange rate, that equates to GHC 155,217.89 per phone , and a jaw-dropping GHC 310,435.78 for the pair. This singular display of luxury exposes a troubling gap between rhetoric and reality. While Mr. Kwakye Ofosu champions narratives of fiscal discipline, such extravagance tells Ghanaians a completely different story. For a government that claims to b...

S/R: The Youth of Bole Threaten to Beat NDC Regional Chairman Man Blessing Over MCE Nominee

Tensions are boiling over in Bole as a section of the youth aligned with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have openly threatened to physically assault the party's Savannah Regional Chairman, Alhaji Seidu Imoro (popularly known as Man Blessing), over the nomination of a Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Bole District. According to aggrieved youth groups, Man Blessing is allegedly imposing a candidate who lacks grassroots support and is seen as being out of touch with the needs and priorities of the constituency. This move, they argue, goes against the spirit of inclusivity and broad consultation that the NDC has long preached. Over the weekend, a group of irate youth stormed the party’s constituency office, chanting war songs and issuing stern warnings to the regional executives. Some of them were heard saying, “We’ll beat Man Blessing anywhere we see him in Bole if he dares bring his candidate here again.”  Others accused the regional chairman of sidelining credible loc...

S/R: DABOYA UNDER SIEGE; DARKNESS DESCENDS DUE TO LEADERSHIP FAILURE

Image
The people of Daboya are suffering through prolonged electricity outages, plunging our once thriving community into darkness. It's disheartening to see our government and leaders seemingly indifferent to this crisis. We recall the past 8 years of stability under NPP rule, where Daboya enjoyed uninterrupted electricity. The previous administration extended electricity to over 30 communities in North Gonja District, including townships extension in Daboya and Linguishe, were commendable. However, in less than 4 months of this new government's tenure, Daboya has lost its reliable electricity supply. Local businesses are struggling, the Coldstore is non-operational, and residents live in fear after dark. Our DCE appears more focused on visiting photo studios for shots than effective action, while our MP seems overwhelmed, ignoring the people's plea. The people of Daboya/Mankarigu deserve better representation and service from their leaders. We urge the government to address t...

Was the Just Ended Pro-VC elections free and fair at UEW?

Image
The Just Ended Pro-VC elections at UEW were fraught with unfair treatment to other candidates for the following reasons: 1. The Vice-Chancellor (Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual) we learned informed Prof. Esther Danso-Wiredu at least two weeks before the official announcement of the nomination while the other candidates were informed just the day the names of nominees were released. Is this right for UEW.  2. Prof. Esther Danso-Wiredu campaigned with the VC'S name that he was solidly behind her to win the Pro-VC election for almost three weeks without a rebuttal from the Vice-Chancellor. Mr. VC, you didn't know of this? 3. This claim was boldly posted on the UTAG WhatsApp platform by one Mr. Wilson Dabou that the VC was Esther's candidate, and therefore, Convocation Members should cast their votes in line with the VC'S candidate What did the VC do? He merely instructed Mr. Wilson Dabou(a lecturer in the Department of History who is a member of Prof. Esther's campa...

Image
By: Habib Mandeya Abukari (Teacher) Dr. Bawumia displaying the printed version of the manifesto On Sunday, August 18th, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) unveiled its 2024 manifesto, setting the stage for transformative changes in various sectors, including education. As a teacher, it is heartening to see the emphasis placed on enhancing the educational landscape of Ghana. The promises made by the NPP in the education sector are not only ambitious but also crucial for addressing key challenges and paving the way for a brighter future. Here’s a closer look at some of these promises and their significance.   1. Recruitment of More Special Needs Teachers The 1992 Constitution of Ghana in Article 25.1(a) states: “all persons shall have the right to equal educational opportunities and facilities and with a view to achieving the full realisation of that right, basic education shall be free, compulsory and available to all”. Ghana’s commitment for an inclusive society, led to the enactme...
